Wednesday morning, I read in Acts 17:1-9, about a trip Paul and Silas took to Thessalonica. During his time there, Paul spoke in the synagogue on three Sabbath days. He preached that Jesus was the Christ and proved it, using Scripture. There were many who believed; there were some who did not.
These unbelievers amassed a group of unruly, immoral characters and, together, they “set the all city on an uproar” (verse 5). These men attacked the home of a man named Jason, with whom Paul and Silas had stayed. Their intent was to drag Paul and Silas out to the people. But, upon discovering the missionaries had left, they arrested Jason and another of the brethren and brought them before the city rulers. They held Jason and the other believer responsible for Paul and Silas, whom they accused of turning the world upside down.
